Truro City Swimmers make a splash at the Western Counties ASA Youth Championships ...
The ASA South West Region Youth Championships, held last weekend in the 50 metre pool at Millfield, is the one time of the year when the best of the West (from Swindon and Gloucester to Penzance) have an opportunity to compete against each other. 49 clubs were represented, from the mighty Plymouth Leander (National Speedo League Champions of England & Wales 2009 & 2008) to our local Cornish clubs. Qualifying times are tough – this is just one step below the Nationals – and Cornish swimmers inevitably suffer the disadvantage of not having a 50 metre pool to train in. This year coach Jane Deards took 9 qualifying swimmers from Truro City Swimming Club.
