Day One of the Cornwall ASA Swimming Championships produces Two National Times
Truro city swimming club can once again be proud as the only swimming club in Cornwall to regularly produce national swimmers on an annual basis. This pays testamont to the excellent coaching that Jane Deards and her team employ to enhance and develop those talented swimmers who are ambitious to achieve.
Day One produced two National times.
The County ASA Sprint Championships kicked off with the first event the 200m freestyle. Josie Williams seeded number one came out of the heats having broke a 22 year old age group record in a time of 2.08.11.
With this achievment in the bag, Josie then swam the finals in a national qualifying time of 2.07.43. Continuing her success and dominance of this event once again. This won Josie the junior and senior championship titles for 2010 in this event which will probably stand for many years to come.
Kay de Courcy's turn was to come with the 200m Individual Medley. The event which is like the decathlon of swimming, sees all 4 strokes swum one after the other in Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle sequence. Having this national time already from Plymouth Leander's long course meet before Christmas , Kay confirmed her county dominance of this event. With Kay already holding the county junior record at long course for this event she had a superb final with a national qualifying time of 2.24.61 which took Cassie Patten's junior county record by over a second. Kay took the junior and senior county championship titles in this event.
WELL DONE GIRLS!
