Truro Swimmers post some early season times at the 2011 Bodmin Open ...
The 5th of November certainly saw some fireworks from some of the junior Truro City swimmers at the 2011 Bodmin Open. The second competitive swim meet of the cornish swim calendar made up of the shorter sprint distances of 50 and 100 metres suited many of the swimmers this early in the season.
This meet also provides swimmers with an early opportunity to achieve the County Championship qualifying times required to compete in March at the county blocks and for this Truro team it was also an opportunity for the younger talent of the club to perform.
With all of the Senior swimmers missing having recently competed in Jersey, Truro took a small team consisting of the Junior Squad members to the all day event. For many there were some impressive personal best times set with the top marks going to 9 year old boy Sam Norton who came away with a personal tally of 5 medals.
Not to be outshone for the girls 9 year old Tanni Smitham and Bethany Vingoe, like Sam also continued to show promising development and progress in their first year of competition with a haul of 3 medals each.
All of the swimmers who attended this meet came away with something positive, helping their confidence to grow and motivating them for the hard training slog ahead through the dark winter months of winter. These swims will also boost the confidence of those younger swimmers selected for the second round of the National Arena League on the 12th November in Plymouth.
WELL DONE TO YOU ALL
