Truro City swimmers off to a solid start at the 2011 County Championships...

This weekend saw the beginning of the 2011 Cornwall County Swimming Championships held at Bodmin Dragon Leisure Centre. Again it was the Truro swimmers who dominated the openning county events.

The openning events for this year were the distance events, 800m freestyle for the girls and 1500m for the boys.

Saturday 12th February 2011 Results

  • Kay de Courcy winning the Girls 800m freestyle retaining the junior and senior titles with a time of 9.22.66.

  • Jack Middleton 1500m freestyle winning the County senior title with a time of 16.58.40.

  • Luc Hesdon 1500m freestyle junior age group swimmer swam a time of 18.17.86.

  • Tom Bolt 1500m freestyle senior age  for a first time swim of 18.34.67.


On the second day, the Youth and BAGCAT 800m freestyle team events took place. This was where the other strong Truro swimmers who dont favour the longer distances had a first taste of this years county championships. The events were again dominated by Truro who won 3 out of the 4 relay events.

This was followed by the final distance events, 15
00m freestyle for the girls and 800m for the boys.

th February 2011 Results
Youth and BAGCAT 800m freestyle team events

  • Men won the senior title 15/18 Yrs team event , Luc Hesdon, Charlie Middleton, Tom Bolt and Luke Hollis with a time of 8.30.56.

  • Women 14/17 Yrs won the senior team event. Josie Williams, Kay de Courcy, Mesha Wardman and Holly Abrahams. 9.03.06

  • Boys 15Yrs Under won the junior team event. George Hollis,Timothy Wyatt, Charlie Haynes, James Carpenter.

  • Girls 15 Yrs under came 5th. Susie laws, Marisa Nichols, Hannah James, Katy Parkinson.


Mens 800m Freestyle.

  • Luc Hesdon Junior title in a time of 9.11.24.

  • Tom Bolt in a time of 9.30.07

  • George Hollis in a time of 9.58.75

Womens 1500m freestyle.

  • Kay de Courcy Junior county championship record, junior and senior titles in a time of 18.10.54.
