Truro City Confirm Premier Club Status with 15th Ellis Cup Win in a Row

Truro City swimming club once again won the County "Ellis" cup. This cup steeped in cornish swimming history is given to the  best club at the county championships and has become a permanent fixture in the trophy cabinet for Truro City Swimming Club over the last few years.

With a changing of the guard at Head Coach, the other cornish clubs thought this was their time to become the leading club in the county.

Unfortunately they didn't bank on Emily Dart the new Head Coach, her squad of coaches and swim programmes and most of all the motivation of the Club's swimmers to deliver some outstanding swims. The arena was set for a fabulous 2012 county blocks and it was some of the young rising stars in the ranks that delivered some great swims and helped the club retain the trophy for 15th consecutive time, like Tanni Smitham who won the Girls 9Yrs AG Winner, Sam Norton winner of the Boys 9Yrs AG Winner) and Nicholas Laws retaining the AG trophy winning the Boys 11Yrs AG to highlight just a few.

The coach who briefed and debriefed every swimmer before and after their race reported the club stats which speak for themselves:
Weekend 1
- 140 swims, 101 pb’s (from entry times), 19 strategic swims, 18 regional/consideration times (worked out on age at counties), 16 gold’s, 15 silvers and 30 bronze
- 1 DQ
- Represented in 21 out of 28 finals.

Weekend 2
- 162 swims over the weekend, 108 pb’s on entry times, 28 strategic or close times, 27 regional/consideration times
- 3 DQ’s (2 were miscounting lengths!! well done George!)
- Represented in 23 out of 28 finals

Grand Total
 = 1 "ELLIS" cup

The overall final standings placed in order of points are:

1 - Truro City 947
2 - Bodmin 781
3
-  St Ives Bay 717
4
- Penzance 686
5
- Carn Brea 552
6
- St Austell 527
7
-  Caradon 507
8
-  Newquay 399
9

With membership on the up in the younger age groups and a Head Coach with some exciting training ideas and programmes it is fantastic to see the swimmers and club going from strength to strength.
