Truro City take inaugural Cornwall ASA Swimming Inter Club Gala ...

This new event in the Cornwall’s amateur swimming association calendar, was staged at Penzance and did not leave any one attending the event with any doubt at all, that this kind of event provides thrills, excitement and has everyone on the edge of their seats.

Seven of Cornwall’s top clubs challenged to get their hands on newly presented John Hickman cup for the first time at this inaugural event. The swimming clubs of Launceston, Penzance, Newquay, Bodmin, Caradon, Carn Brea and Truro City battled all afternoon in the Penzance leisure centre pool with some fantastic swims from throughout all clubs and  age groups.

Dominic Goodwin got Truro City of to a great start by winning the first event, the 50m freestyle. The county's leading swimming club Truro City from then on did not look back. Even without a full compliment of their top open swimmers at the end of the day won this event very comfortably with 200 points , from Carn Brea on 179,Caradon 153, Bodmin 144, Newquay 132, Penzance 96 and Launceston 76 points.

Truro City swimmers Dominic Goodwin, Katy Parkinson, Mathew Trewhella, Nicola Russell, Solomon Major, Josie Williams, Andrew Cooke, Kay de Courcy, Jamie Mann, Megan Arkell, Tristan Hearle, Mesha Wardman, Jenny de Courcy, Jacob Wood, Luc Hesdon, Megan Hicks, James Davis, Jack Middleton, Emily Coston, Courtney-lee Reid and George Haynes as a team received the John Hickman cup which was presented to them by the out going Cornwall ASA president John Hickman.
