Club Championships 2015
Members please read and digest the following important information regarding the changes to our club championships…….

The committee has decided to change the format of our annual club championships…Why?

• Current format has been in place for a number of years and it is time for an update.
• Current format limits our members on how many races they can swim and does not cover all the distances in all events.
• Club ethos is for all swimmers across the age groups to enjoy swimming, have fun and test themselves against their peers in
the comfort of their own pool, club environment and in a family atmosphere.
• Annual county championships have moved left and we need to adapt by providing our members opportunities to compete and gain QT’s in the qualifying window.
• Entries for Counties 2016 will need to be achieved at a licensed meet and time trials are not suffice.

Considering all of the above, we can confirm the following plan; Important dates for diaries……

*Sunday 12th July – FAST FIVE SPRINT GALA*

• Free and open to ALL members.
• Splash and dash sprint events across the four strokes (front crawl, backstroke, fly and breast) plus 100 metre individual medley (5 in total).
• 8 and under age group swim 25 meters, 9 and over swim 50 meters.
• Open and available to all age groups; additional masters category so Mum’s and Dad’s can swim.
• Emphasis is on a low key, family orientated gala, accommodating our youngest development swimmers to top end seniors having fun and competing against their peers.
• Members can compete in as many swims as possible.
• Those members that do compete in all five the top six junior and senior swimmers per gender who obtained the
highest FINA points will qualify for the SKINS event......

• What is SKINS? The event format runs by taking the top 6 swimmers who have amassed the most FINA points over the meet into a random 4 round 50m sprint elimination competition. The stroke draw takes place immediately before each round so individual favourite strokes are luck of the draw, a whistle is blown 10 seconds before the start beep and it is the swimmers individual responsibility to stand on the blocks late or early anticipating the beep that comes without warning when the 10 seconds are up. Each round is sent away with the last 2 swimmers to finish eliminated until only the final 2 remain to swim for glory. Its fast, furious and great fun.

•  Times gained will give our youngest new competitive swimmers without QT’s, times to enter CCASA Development,
Bodmin Open and CBH Open meets early in the new season.
•  Members will swim for the club championship trophy for that age group, gender and event.

•  Full confirmed details and entry forms will be available over the forthcoming weeks.

*Sunday 27th and Wednesday 30th September- CLUB CHAMPS*

• More formal fully licensed Level 4 meet.
• All other distances across the events (i.e. 100, 200, 400 and 400 IM) over two dates.
• Open to
ALL members, giving them the opportunity to monitor progress, gain experience and obtain times that will qualify
for other meets, QT’s within the qualifying window for Counties 2016 and will appear in rankings.
• Members will swim for the club championship trophy for that age group, gender and event.
• Small charge per event entered (minimal entry fees) to cover overheads, medals and trophies.

• Full meet details etc tbc over the forthcoming weeks.

We hope all members agree, this proposed plan gives our members; from the youngest development fun swimmer to our top end senior a better opportunity to swim competitively in their own pool, monitor progress and test themselves across all the strokes and distance.

Club’s Development Gala and Distance Meet will still go ahead as normal in the winter term.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate in contacting Comp Sec Val, Head Coach Emily or a Committee Member poolside; your
