National Arena League Round 3 ...
Truro City Swimming Club made the 3 hour journey north on saturday the 10th of December 2011 , up the M5 to Millfield School in Somerset for the National Arena League Round 3 final and promotion decider. With the format changed to long course for the final, the 8 teams lined up ready to go as the last meet of the day.
For most of the younger members of the team this was their first outing in a 50 metre pool and they coped admirably with the increase in standard, with a number of the swimmers posting personal best times in the adrenalin fuelled meet.
With the team in transition across the age groups a number swimmers were given the added challenge and asked to swim up an age group, which is a daunting task at anytime let alone in a final. It was therefore very rewarding for those swimmers to be cheered on by the rest of the team and great to see that they did themselves proud never letting the team down.
As an overall experience this meet was excellent for exposing the young team to not only an increase in swimming standard, but the invaluable experience of swimming in a 50 metre pool. It was a fitting result that even under these challenging circumstances that the team finished a respectable 7th place in the Division overall out of 18 clubs taking part, something for the younger members to build on and remember for the future.
Western Division 1 Final placing were:
1 Seagulls 324 points
