A happy Easter holiday for Truro swimmer Kay ...

Talented young Truro City swimmer Kay de Courcy travelled to Weston-super-mare over the Easter weekend to compete in their annual swimming meet. The competition held over the two days (11th & 12th ) saw many national hopefuls being drawn to the event with one eye on achieving the Fonds Forge goal.

Swimming strongly over both days, Kay placed in all of 6 entered events. However it was not until her last swim in the 400m Individual Medley did the 14 year old achieve her goal of a National Qualifying time finishing in second place  with a time of 5.05:77, 3 seconds inside the required short course time.

Qualification in the 400m IM swim, an extremely demanding event at any time is just reward for the youngsters hard training and dedication throughout the season and means that Kay will again travel to Ponds Forge Sheffield, in July at the gathering of this years elite swimming meet for a second consecutive year albeit in a different stroke.

This achievement will give Kay and a number of the other Truro swimmers confidence when attending the regional long course youth championships in early May at Millfield School.

Well done Kay, keep up the hard work.
