NEW SEASON -
Getting in the swim again after summer break Truro City Swimming Club held their Club Distance Champs over Sunday 27th and Wednesday 30th September. After the success of the Club Fast 5 focusing on 50m sprints the two sessions distance champs offered swimmers from age 9 upwards the chance to test themselves in 100m and 200m events.
For the first time the gala was registered as a Level 4 meet which means that times will be officially recorded on the ASA rankings as well as serving as benchmarks for the forthcoming season and perhaps a chance to record an early County qualifying time. New and old club champs records (not to be confused with Club Records) were up for grabs too in age group clusters 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, 15/16 and 17 +, ages determined by 22nd November 2015.
For some swimmers the club champs were their first experience of a swimming gala amongst friendly, familiar faces. Both sessions proved very popular and with the support of a team of officials and volunteer helpers ran smoothly with a fantastic atmosphere. With the double age groups and silverware up for grabs competition was fierce and many swimmers really pushed themselves to some excellent performances and pbs.
